“Gift of the Magi 2.0” re-imagines O. Henry’s holiday classic Gift of the Magi, setting the tale in Atlanta in the 1950’s. This affecting adaptation centers around a local streetcar driver who’s struggling to stay afloat during the Atlanta Transit strike. Christmas is around the corner and the young man is determined to find a way to buy his wife the perfect gift, without realizing she’s doing the same for him. This play tells the story of love, sacrifice and the blessings that we take for granted.
Christmas Parade – Saturday, November 28, 6 – 7 pm, Hiawassee (706-896-4444)
“Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” is this year’s theme for the Towns County Sheriff’s Office Christmas Parade. Bring your lawn chairs and candy buckets and get ready to watch the twinkling lights and floats parade through Hiawassee. The parade route will begin in the parking lot of the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and end at South State Bank.
